KEEGAN GIBBS

Photography is a huge part of my life and Keegan Gibbs is on of my favorite photographers. I find a lot of inspiration from his photography and overall I just love the feeling that his photos have to them, the tend to portray emotions very well........

He shoots a wide variety of subjects some of which are the most random things that you would never think off, from punks sneaking into circuses, to Ozzy Osborne before a concert, to famous graffiti artists he is a pioneer of many fields.....

With the likeliness of Martha Cooper he has started a new trend of documenting the graffiti world by fallowing the MSK crew from California around the world as the paint buildings, trains, and anything else.....

So what does this have to do with media? Keegan Gibbs runs his own blog and tumblr that he updates all the time with photography that I personally find fascinating, he is constantly updating it from where ever he is in the world with updates on his new exhibits or next show...

Under Pressure magazine

Under Pressure magazine is published twice a year, it isn't your typical magazine its focused as being more of a collectible and is all about canada. It focuses any tons of different aspects from rappers to boxers and photographers. It was started as a graffiti magazine focus on the roots of canadian graffiti. The magazine was started and is still owned by Sterling Downey,

I had the pleasure of spending a night with sterling downey earlier this year at the after party for the wall to canvas event in Burlington VT and got to talk to him a little bit about the magazine and the whole idea behind the events they put on and what its all about.

The first thing he had to say was that its about canada first and foremost,and that everything about it is a pain in the ass. We chatted about mostly about some of the friends and acquaintances that we share in the boston graffiti world. and other random things but, he said one thing to me that I remember clearly,said Im out at 20 years, once the events and magazine makes it to 20 Im done. He was honestly one of the coolest dudes that I have met.

Under pressure its self is responsible for many things other than the magazine it hold an annual international graffiti competition every year. as well as hosting tons of concerts and and different events all located in canada.

There are a few people that work in different mediums that are they poster children for under pressure magazine. 2 come to mind immediately Killah Ef and classified. one is a graffiti artistand one is a rapper

Killah EF is a graffiti artist located in montreal he is known for his crazy party habits and his amazing skills with a can of spray paint.

classified is a artist that Under pressure does articles on all the time, he's from canada and sticks to his roots, classified is a canadian rapper which is something that you wanna check out cause its a strange mixture.

whether its flickr, tumblr, wordpress, or any of the other things that I use to look at the random pictures that cultivate and wash through the hundreds of "trendy" blogs around the internet.

although some of this is lame, some of these have actually interesting photos and videos weather its doing really "cool tricks" on your fixed gear bike....

these websites appear solely to the limbic and reptilian brain all they are is pretty colors and funny sounds, theres no real thought to them that appeases the neocortex, its just things to look at .

or your new random tattoo to show to all of your hipster friends,

sarcasm aside, theres at least a few gems hidden in the strange places of hipstah blogs that are more than fixed gears and trendy tattoos.........

theres usually a great variety of random pictures that have been taken from random photographers and websites around the internet, there a great way to find cool pictures and tons of other random content, they are the epitome of conversion, they are photographs taken from a camera, uploaded to the internet, used by one they taken to another and another, they combine many forms of media to create them into one.

Im from rye or burlington or florida or wherever someplace somewhere. Over christmas break I watched movies, used flickr and let media deprive my body of movement, one of the only good things about media is the wealth of information it spreads across the world from person to person but, even that is biased. as for what I would like to do with my life. who knows? I sure don't, maybe ill take picture of something or maybe ill be president of the nra im not really sure at the moment. ill probably take pictures though guns and rednecks are not really my thing...
